Lazarus and What's His Name?

Patrice McCormac
Luke 16:19-31

Although being wealthy is not a sin, it can blind us to the things of God. God gives each of us a measure of wealth, whether a little or a lot, with the intent that we use it to bring Him glory. God has a great concern for the poor. We can use our wealth on our selves as the rich man did or we can use it to serve the poor and bring glory to God.

The Shrewd Manager

Lee Campbell
Luke 16:1-13

The parable of the shrewd manager is not praising the manager's unrighteous tactics, but his shrewdness. Nothing we have truly belongs to us. Like the manager, we should shrewdly "make friends" with our worldly resources so that they can join us in the next life.

Foolish-Wise

Lee Campbell
Luke 12:13-34

The foolish focus their attention on accumulating wealth in order to ensure a comfortable life, but the wise are rich toward God. The wise focus their attention on God's kingdom and live a life of love towards others, trusting God to take care of all their needs.

Living Stones

Ben Foust
1 Peter 2:4-10

As living stones in God's spiritual temple, we are a part of what God is doing in the world. As living stones we are different, serve together, and have purpose.

Christ-Centered Giving and Receiving

Gary DeLashmutt
Philippians 4:10-20

Christ-centered receiving gratefully receives God's help through others. It ultimately, depends upon God to meet all one's needs. Christ-centered giving is an investment in God's kingdom and a response to God's grace. It trusts in God's care.

Grace to Give

Mike Sullivan
2 Corinthians 8-9

God wants Christians to be generous and will give great opportunities to be generous. Grace-based giving is not bound by our circumstances. It is inspired by Christ. Grace-based giving shares resources with those in need and is accountable to handle money in an honorable way. Grace-based giving remembers God's role in supplying the resources to give. Grace-based giving results in recipients giving thanks and glorifying God.

Exchanging the Old Self for the New Self

Dennis McCallum
Ephesians 4:21-28

If you are forgiven in Jesus, you have a new birth, a new identity. This new birth means you have to believe and live in that identity. Believing and living in this new identity releases God's power to transform your mind which leads to living a life of love.

Simple Living and Family Life

Niccole Williamson
Emily Morris
2 Corinthians 4:18

What is simple living? It is practical living in light of eternity, cultivating a heart that belongs to eternal things, and freedom. It involves practicing gratitude, generosity and a skepticism towards worldly conventions. "But godliness with contentment is great gain."

Enemies of the Cross

Gary DeLashmutt
Philippians 3:17-4:1

Materialism defines fulfillment and security in terms of material possessions in this life. Christians in this present world are particularly vulnerable with the massive cultural pressure to engage in materialism. To resist this pressure, Christians must cultivate deep convictions about Jesus' return and His eternal kingdom, see through materialism enough that they are emotionally affected by its impact, and prioritize and treasure fellowship with committed Christians.
