This fund helps support students at Harambee Christian School. Harambee Christian School is committed to helping Columbus' inner-city youth overcome challenges and thrive in the body of Christ. South Linden continues to be among the poorest neighborhoods in all of Central Ohio. Many individuals in South Linden live below the poverty level, and public schools continue to remain in "Academic Emergency" according to the Ohio Department of Education.
After spending three years conducting a community needs assessment in central Ohio, Dwell Community Church formed Urban Concern in 1991, as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. What started out as a grassroots after school program and Bible study, serving just 17 students, has grown to be a beacon of light and transformative power for a community with high crime, unemployment, and dropout rates; schools in "Academic Emergency"; and higher than average poverty and teen pregnancy rates. In 1998, Urban Concern formed Harambee Christian School, and in 2021 the ministry rebranded solely under the Harambee banner for greater clarity in our mission and purpose.
Your support provides funds for educational scholarships and Christian camp fees, both used to equip students to break the cycle of poverty and be positive agents of change, in their community and in the world.
