Adult Ministry Director Liz Sweet will teach a counseling workshop titled, "Charitable Judgements" on Saturday, September 7th from 10 am - noon at the Main Campus Cafe.
Liz answers some questions about the workshop:
What led you to study this topic and teach a workshop on it?
Ken Sande has a powerful blog post called Charitable Judgments; I was convicted by it, and whenever I shared it with others, they were also impacted by it. As people, we tend to judge and jump to conclusions, and this topic highlights a loving way to think about other people.
How have charitable judgments impacted your life?
In my life and others' lives I have seen the danger of judging without evidence; learning to be more charitable and giving the benefit of the doubt to others has enabled me more regularly to think rightly, and to not make the costly mistake of hurting my relationships by thinking I know others' motives.
Why would you encourage someone to attend this workshop?
It's an opportunity to learn to take our thoughts captive, to represent Christ more fully, and to treat others the way we would like to be treated. It is an opportunity for God to transform our thinking and relating.
